Why most new PTs are gone within 12 months —
and how you won't be.

Three and a half minutes. The thing course providers in Ireland won't say out loud.

Press play
The conversation in your head

You're not afraid of the course.
You're afraid of what comes after it.

Before anyone fills in an enquiry form, they've already had this argument with themselves. We've read thousands of these conversations. They all sound the same.

The income fearI so badly want to move into fitness, but I'm terrified of losing the good income and the benefits.
The imposter fearI'm about to turn 40. I'm in great shape for my age, but I'm certainly not 22. Am I too old to break in?
The wasted-money fearThe cheap courses spit out iffy-quality trainers. Most people end up not knowing what they don't know.
The clients fearNobody ever told us how to actually set up a business. We were told to get a Facebook page, and that was about it.

Here's the truth the industry doesn't say out loud: in Ireland there is no strong regulatory standard for PT education. Anyone can print a certificate. That's why most new trainers are gone within a year — not because they couldn't coach, but because nobody taught them the career.

The mission

Raise the standard of personal training in Ireland.

That's been the mission since day one — long before it was a marketing line. Ireland deserves trainers who are educated to a real standard, prepared for a real career, and proud of the qualification behind them. Every workshop, every module and every graduate is in service of that.

Trained in Ireland. Built to a standard the industry needs.

What we stand for

Three promises. Each one answers a fear.

I.

Education at a real standard

Rigorous, practical, in person. Four hands-on gym workshops where you coach real people under experienced eyes — because a qualification only means something when the standard behind it does. You'll walk onto a gym floor knowing exactly what to do.

II.

Career architecture, not just a cert

Client acquisition, pricing, retention, personal brand — baked into the curriculum, not sold as an upsell. Every other course stops at the exam. You graduate knowing how to earn, with a guaranteed gym interview waiting.

III.

A community that lasts

The loneliest moment in fitness is your first week on the floor, alone. Our graduates don't have one. Mentorship, an alumni network and ongoing support continue long after certification — students still ring John for advice years later.

The route

The certificate isn't the finish line. It's the halfway point.

Scroll the route. Watch where every other course ends — and where this one keeps going.

Weeks 1–4

Foundations, around your life

Flexible online modules in anatomy, programme design and nutrition — studied evenings and weekends. No quitting your job. No going back to college.

Weeks 4–14

Real coaching, in a real gym

Four in-person practical workshops in small groups. You coach, you get corrected, you build the confidence online-only courses can't fake.

Weeks 12–16 · Milestone

Qualified: ITEC Level 3 Diploma

Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer and Nutritionist — VTCT accredited, QQI/FETAC Level 5 equivalent, recognised worldwide.

Who's teaching you

Built by someone who did it the hard way first.

A practical coaching session being delivered to PT Career students on the gym floor
On the floor · session in progress

John Carroll started on a gym floor in 2006. By 2014 he'd opened three gyms of his own — Balbriggan, Malahide, Churchtown. And he kept running into the same wall: the thing limiting every gym's growth was the quality of the coaches coming out of Ireland's courses.

So in 2015 he opened an educational institute with one purpose — raise the standard of personal training in Ireland. A decade on, he's helped thousands of people qualify. Many of them now run their own facilities and businesses around the world.

That's the difference you're buying: a course built by someone who's hired trainers, fired trainers, built gyms and built careers — and who still answers the phone to his graduates years after they've finished.

An honest filter

This isn't for everyone. That's the point.

Built for you if —

  • You're 25–45, stuck in a job you dread, and fitness is the thing you'd do for free
  • You want a real career with real income — not a side hustle or a piece of paper
  • You're willing to train in person, be coached, and be corrected
  • You've been putting this off for a year or more because the risk felt too big
  • You don't "look like a PT" — plenty of our best graduates didn't either

Not for you if —

  • You want the cheapest, fastest certificate on the market — there are plenty of those
  • You think online-only study will make you a confident coach
  • You expect clients to appear without learning the business side
  • You're not prepared for 12–16 weeks of real work around your job

Questions

Everything people ask before they say yes.

I have no experience. Can I really become a PT?
Yes — most of our students have never coached before. The course starts from foundations and builds practical ability through four in-person workshops, so you graduate ready to coach real clients, not just pass an exam.
Can I do this while working full-time?
That's exactly who this is built for. Online modules are flexible — evenings and weekends — and the four practical workshops are scheduled well in advance. Most students complete the course in 12–16 weeks without leaving their job.
Is the qualification recognised internationally?
Yes. You earn an ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training, VTCT accredited and equivalent to QQI/FETAC Level 5. Our graduates currently work in 15 countries — including Australia, Canada, Dubai, England, Germany and the USA.
Am I too old for this? I don't "look like a PT."
Some of the most successful trainers in the industry started in their 30s and 40s. Clients don't hire abs — they hire someone they can relate to, with a goal they can see standing in front of them. Career-changers are our core student, not the exception.
How is this different from cheaper online courses?
Three ways: in-person practical training (confidence can't be built over Zoom), business education as core curriculum (so you can actually earn), and support that continues after you qualify — including a guaranteed gym interview. Cheap courses end at the certificate. That's exactly the problem.
How much can I earn as a personal trainer in Ireland?
It varies by how you work — employed, self-employed, online or hybrid. The honest answer is that income follows business skill: finding, pricing and keeping clients. That's why we teach it as part of the qualification instead of leaving you to figure it out alone.
What happens on the fitness career call?
Fifteen minutes, no obligation. We ask about your situation and goals, answer your questions, and tell you honestly whether this course fits. If it's not right for you, we'll say so.

You've been having this conversation with yourself for long enough.

The September intake is open. The qualification is accredited. The interview is guaranteed. The only thing missing is your name.
